See? How can I stay mad at a puppy who gives you these loving looks? She's in my favorite dog pose -- paws on the sides of her head.
A few weekends ago, we went to the Liberty Science Center with Quail's puppy club. It was a fun trip and even more relaxing for us since one of the youth members of the club who is currently puppy-less asked if she could borrow Quail for the day. We actually got to walk around without a puppy in tow.
Well, Quail must have decided that either
To say that I was angry and upset is an understatement. Needless to say, I have learned my lesson -- all handknit items and probably everything else of any sort of value must be up high or put away out of the reach of puppy.
I'm glad we went during the week -- it was crowded but probably nowhere near as crowded as it would be over the weekend. And most of the cherry trees were blooming.
One of the fun things about babies is that you can dress them up in all sorts of silly things. I had to make little Easter ears for our nephew Jake and cousin Frankie.
It was a beautiful weekend so we decided to go to Blue Mountain Lake. It was very quiet up there and we only saw a few people. We had been there once before with Anita and she loved it. She really was a water dog and she just loved to swim.
Ed tossed the water toy into the lake and Harley dove right in. Quail jumped right in after him, surprising both us and herself in the process. I don't think she knew what she was doing. She went under and then popped right up.
It's a good thing swimming is instinctual in dogs because Quail just doggy-paddled her way back to shore -- look at how much splash she has compared to Harley -- she definitely startled herself when she jumped in. We tried to get her back in by tossing the water toy and sticks in -- she would run up to the edge but that was about it. Later on in our walk along the lake, she did go in to about half-way up her legs but that was it.
The worst part of being a grown-up is that there is no one else to blame when I get a terrible sugar headache especially since I should have known better than to eat a piece of cake for breakfast.
Two weeks ago, we went on our annual Seeing Eye puppy tour of Newark Airport. It's a great experience for the pups and we always have fun too.
We get to see the emergency vehicles at the airport and we walk around one of them while the sirens are blaring -- a great experience for our puppies to have to behave with lots of noise and commotion. At past visits, we've even seen the airport dogs at work demonstrating how they sniff things out.
We walked around the terminal and then boarded a Continental Express Jet. Nope, we didn't get to fly anywhere but it is yet another great experience for the pups. Quail didn't fit in the overhead compartment so she sat on the floor :-)
