I really enjoy knitting "things". My current fun thing to knit is Bear Binkies. I think the bear needs pupils for his eyes though.

One of those mornings...
Mornings in our home are a bit of a zoo especially with 3 dogs in the house who really really just want breakfast. It's even worse when your bad morning really started the night before.
A brand new box of donuts (in a plastic clamshell sealed with a sticky label) was left on the kitchen table. While we were out walking Harley and Quail in the evening, Trinity decided to help herself and she ate the whole box of donuts. We did find some red and blue sprinkles in the living room but other than that, the box was empty. She was looking pretty rotund later that night and she basically lay on her pillow in a food coma - she probably had a bad sugar headache too!
Quail woke up crying a little after 3 am and we made a mad dash from our bedroom upstairs to the backyard -- diarrhea again! She woke me up about every hour and a half.
So I woke up in the morning already tired plus it's hot out! I was trying to get ready an hour earlier than usual because an electrician was stopping by to take a look at the spot on the house where an 18-wheeler going down our street ripped the power lines off the side of the house -- that's a totally different story.
I answered the front door with wet hair and in the middle of dogs eating breakfast. While I was talking to the electrician, Harley ate Quail's Immodium.
After the electrician left, Trinity decide to drink tons of water and she threw up three times -- I knew it was her because while it was mostly water, there were some sprinkles in there -- EW!
And of course, Quail was still wanting to go outside because of her diarrhea.
I am so tempted to leave all the dogs outside until everyone is done doing whatever they need to do but it is going to be a hot day.
And as always, they are just too cute to ignore :-)

World Wide Knit in Public Day
To celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day, I went with a bunch of knitting friends to Roosevelt Park where we spent a beautiful day outside knitting at our potluck picnic. The weather was great -- not too hot and it didn't rain although it was a bit overcast. And if you didn't know that World Wide Knit in Public Day existed, well, you might be interested to know that hubby says it coincidentally falls on the same day as World Wide Bored in Public Day...and he wants me to knit him a bear rug -- HA!

I love my pretty pages :-)
I don't usually use my blog posts to plug my Creative Memories business but I just had to share how much I love Creative Memories StoryBook Creator Plus software. I use StoryBook Creator Plus to create all the pretty images in my blog. I also use it to create StoryBooks as well as birthday cards, fliers, calendars, mugs, etc... All of the photo collages hanging in my home are made using StoryBook Creator Plus. I am basically creating my own images so I can take a regular photo and enhance it to end up with something so much prettier. In case you would like to make your own images, StoryBooks, cards, etc... I thought I'd share that StoryBook Creator Plus is currently on special for 40% off -- normally it is $64.95 but right now it is $38.97. The special runs until June 27th. It's really a great deal so if you're interested and would like more info, email me or visit my website for some more information.
PS There are a lot of other things available until June 27th for 40% off and here's a list of what's on special.

Life's a Beach
I think I've found another knitting obsession besides socks...shawls. The only problem I see with shawls is that while I can wear a different pair of socks every day (except for the hottest summer months), I don't have as many opportunities to wear a shawl. Especially a shawl as bright as this one.It was knit with one skein of Noro Kureyon Sock. Not sure I like the yarn enough to use it again although I love the colors. And while I do love the colors and I do wear bright colors, I'm not sure I'll wear this one -- it is soooo bright, even for me! It may just end up being pretty decoration in my home :-)

The Great South Bay Triathalon
Last Sunday we went to Long Island to cheer on some of hubby's friends from work who were competing in the Great South Bay Triathalon for Team Boomer. We arrived just as the roads were being closed so we had to walk towards the start of the triathalon which was at the marina. Boy were we disappointed to arrive at the marina gates and see that they don't allow dogs.So we leashed Harley and Quail to the sign post and stood there to cheer everyone on.
As we were walking to the marina, we did see Tracy whiz by us on her bike but it was too fast for us to even notice til she went by. We saw her again when she was heading back to the marina to drop off her bike for the run.
Jerry and Carton were doing the triathalon in a more "leisurely" style.
In the end, we did go into the marina with Harley and Quail. Apparently there were quite a few other dogs in there and we were the only ones paying attention to the sign. It was nice to be at the sign though -- there weren't very many people cheering where we were standing and Harley and Quail made a lot of very tired competitors smile. Some even managed to get up enough breath to tell us how beautiful they were :-)Friday, June 11, 2010

Walking the Brooklyn Bridge
Saturday May 22, 2010
Hubby has walked across the Brooklyn Bridge a few times with work. He thought it would be a great experience for our Seeing Eye puppies and a fun time for the people too so we arranged a club trip. Harley came along too!
We started off in Brooklyn -- there were a lot more people walking on the bridge than I had thought there would be. I've never walked on the Brooklyn Bridge before so it was a surprise to me to find "photo op" spots on the bridge along with little info markers.
We found a little park on the Manhattan side where we sat on benches and ate lunch. It was cooler in the shade which was good because the day was definitely getting warm.

We started off in Brooklyn -- there were a lot more people walking on the bridge than I had thought there would be. I've never walked on the Brooklyn Bridge before so it was a surprise to me to find "photo op" spots on the bridge along with little info markers. The bike riders on the bridge made me nervous -- they had their own lane but there were times when the pedestrian lane was so crowded that we had to move into the bike lane to get around.
Of course we had to stop for club photos. All the puppies did well with the crowds and the traffic noise.
We found a little park on the Manhattan side where we sat on benches and ate lunch. It was cooler in the shade which was good because the day was definitely getting warm. The walk back over to Brooklyn was even more crowded. And to make it worse, Harley realized we were walking on a wooden plank walkway and I guess he realized that he could see through the walkway to the water below us -- the walk back was scary for him and he cowered the whole way back. Once we got on the concrete walkway on the other side, he perked up -- it was amazing to see the change in his posture. We also learned that he did not like subway gratings at all!
