Playing in the dirt...

Can you see the fluorescent orange line spraypainted into the grass? The diggers were here before 8am on Monday morning ready to play in the dirt. It was neat to watch as the hole was dug for the new basement. They dug about half of it on Monday.
Our nephew lives in Salt Lake so we don't see him very often. We were out there one year when he was about 4 years old and at the time he loved bulldozers, backhoes and all types of huge construction equipment. His favorite videos were about this guy Bob -- no, not the cartoon Bob the Builder -- but this guy named Bob who was sometimes a builder, fireman, policeman, etc... When we were visiting, our nephew really wanted us to watch the Bob video on construction with him-- he kept asking us Wanna Watch Bob? We'd watch for a half hour and then it was back to Wanna Watch Bob? After the third time, we finally said no because those videos were just pure torture! :-)

Later on in the day, Harrison finally came out to see what was making all the noise.
By Tuesday evening, the diggers were done. The forecast is for rain so they put a huge tarp over the pit. Ed wanted to check out the view from the bilco doors (which will go away) and Matt went into the pit. I think they dug 8 feet or more down. There is the drainage ditch for the drain pipes and a deeper part for the new sump pump. And there is dirt everywhere! Thankfully we never did replace the grass which was on our to do list.

Hi Marian,
Have been reading your blog and boy do I remember "Bob the Builder, Fireman, Construction guy etc. Memories, There goes the Bulldozer! We used to have to count bulldozers, backhoes, tractors on the way to day care through Construction zones.
This is very cool the way you have been able to capture the remodel through pictures. Thanks for sharing! We will check back
